The Pattern You've Mistaken for Your Personality
It was about six weeks after I received my Enneagram report.
I was in Target, in the greeting card aisle — one of my favorite places to kill time, if I’m being honest. I needed one birthday card but ended up picking out six or seven. A thinking-of-you card for my aunt. A funny one for a girlfriend. A few others for people I hadn’t connected with in a while. I love the whole process — finding the right card, picking the pen that matches, writing the note, putting the stamp on it, dropping it in the mailbox. It genuinely brings me joy.
About a week later, I noticed something. A quiet recurring distraction. I hadn’t heard back from anyone.
And then it hit me — not as a criticism, but as a recognition. Oh. That’s the thing on page 7.
